I never did find any of the 42W7872 boards, they are pretty rare. I ended up buying about 18 complete T61's 14" 4:3 thinkpads from a seller on ebay with the 42w7648 boards which I am using to build frankenpads. so far I have built and sold 7 of them and the 42w7648 boards work just fine and its what I use daily. the only thing is you need to use latest moded bios to fix the thermal issue and get sata2 working. they run very cool and are great on power.

if you look on ebay for T61's with these boards, make sure the seller posts actual pictures and make sure to get the model# before buying. you would be surprised how many laptop resellers on ebay re-use pictures and listing information from other listings which are inaccurate.
