Welcome to this forum. Very sorry about what happened. You are not the first person to have this problem when updating the BIOS from inside Windows 7. What happened is not your fault.

It is highly unlikely, for a variety of reasons, that you will be able to replace the BIOS chip and have a working motherboard. Your fastest and least expensive solution, especially given the time-critical nature of your needs, is to replace the motherboard.

Shipping a motherboard to you from the U.S. costs approximately $20 and takes 10+ days in transit. (Let me know if you need help buying and/or shipping something from the U.S.) I suspect you can get what you need faster from Germany. See below. Good luck!

Note: T61 7763 is an impossibility. You have either a T61 7663 ..or.. an X61 Tablet 7763. Assuming you have a T61 7663, then you need a 14" or 15" ("standard" 4x3 screen) motherboard; you cannot use a motherboard from a T61 with a wide screen. Finally, you can substitute a T60[/p] motherboard but only if you do not need more than 3GB memory and you do not need 64-bit operation.

Pal i wont change my botherboard i have friends who will replace the bios chipset ihave only one question can someone answer to this .first question is
I have two options here the rom is only 2MB the chip is 4MB i can place the rom file at the start or the end ?, or possible truncate it to fit a 4MB eeprom. So three choices really.
My other question is from where i can get slic bios ?
I have t61 14" wide screen so i hqve friend from uk who have the chipset but he dont know how to program it since the ibm bios is only 2mb? I hope for response and one more time i wont change my motherboard my ibm t61 is nvidia quadro nvs 140m 4gb ddr 2 ram 7 hours battery and 2ghz core 2 duo 4mb cache :) blue tooth and wifi n etc.

One can take an unspecified length of time and use an unspecified amount of engineering effort to solve these problems. Your problem can be solved in 3 days for $50 only if you replace the motherboard. I was responding to you based on the belief that a quick and inexpensive solution was preferable to a black hole of time and effort.

If you need a working T61 soon, then replace the motherboard, fix the bad one if possible, and then sell or swap motherboards. If the "fun" is in solving the puzzle of BIOS replacement, then I think you are in for a lot of "fun" -- especially if you have passwords set in the original BIOS.

Perhaps others on this forum can provide the specific answers you requested.

You can get a Slic BIOS, with SATA II speed and no LAN/WAN/WiFi whitelist problems here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/lenovo- ... ost6501443

I have no idea about ROM sizes or where/how to place a file at a specific location.

The BIOS chip is logically tied to the TPM chips (trusted platform module). If you move the BIOS chip from another machine, you will get 4 sets of 4 beeps at startup.

My bios dont have password and my tpm chip too.but i was thinking that if i have bios chip from other t61 and preprogram it it will work ? Or not ? The hard thing are bioses thats why i bought need mb which i must receive soon.
