I have a T60P with IPS and a fingerprint reader (I upgraded the CPU to a Core 2 Duo a long time ago). I use the fingerprint for USER logon but PW of administrator logon. Running W7 64 SP1
When connection to this T60P with Remote Desktop from another W7 64 SP1 machine, it offers logon with fingerprint device but says it can not find it. When I try to log on with the USER password, I get a message: "Only Administrators can log on with password."
I can not find anywhere to make or change such a setting either in the remote access or with biometric setup. The driver is UPEK dated 10/2009, 1.3.0.214. I let the Lenovo update service take care of the drivers on this.
Any ideas about this? I vaguely recall sometime ago choosing some setup for the logon with fingerprint device where I could allow or disallow login with password. Can't find that now.
Thanks.
Only Admin can log on from remote desktop with PW

Re: Only Admin can log on from remote desktop with PW
hi jg*...
seems like the SAME problem that I found out the HARD WAY ....how to fix!
Lenovo Tecg Support wasnt much help NOR was MS Expert for remote Login!
But here is what you need to check
- Windows "user directory" has appropiate "sharing" ( as remote PC will need to access that)
- Windows Admin user of PC u accessing is avalible to you ( you need that to make changes in next step)
- Login the HOST LAPATOP ( I assume your t60p) and make sure YOUR FP apps has ALL UPDATES and ALL USERS have access to ADD. READ that data (MUST HAVE THIS)
- ADD LOGIN approval in UPIX FP apps for REMOTE LAPTOP ( in settings screen)
These steps took me untold trials and now I remember them well enough - do it in sleep
Cheers
