Colour bit depth only 16M
Colour bit depth only 16M
Just happened to see it on the lenovo website?
I just use the lcd in the lid, never plug it into an external lcd.
If 16m is the max, might as well set the settings to 16m right?

Re: Colour bit depth only 16M
You must have the incorrect driver installed.
32-bit is a norm for ThinkPads and has been for at least a decade...
What machine are we discussing here?

Re: Colour bit depth only 16M
I'm certain that if you go into the Display Properties (presuming a correct driver is installed) you will find a 32-bit option...

@op...
"32bit" is 16 million colors. 24 bits for actual color info (16,777,216) plus 8 bits for an "alpha channel" (whatever that is).

Re: Colour bit depth only 16M
32/24 bits color depths for laptops is mostly a lie. A few laptop panels at 8 bit per color has recently appeared, but otherwise 99% ogf all panels are 6 bit per color or 18 bit in total. All panels will accept a 24 bit (8 bit per color) input, but will just discard the two least significant bits. Running at 16 bits means 4 bits per color + 4 bits alpha channel, i.e. you'll lose two bits per color, or 47 extra shades of each color (!). So just select 24 bits in windows and everything will be fine
