on X220i show local area connection

#1 Post by AbeW » Sun May 29, 2011 7:00 am

Hi,
I just got my new X220i and can't find how to display my local area (ethernet) connection on my notification bar.
iIknow that I am connected but would like to see an icon on the notification bar.
Can anybody tell me how?
Thanks
Abe

Try this. Click on the taskbar and go into customize. Under your network connection, select 'show icon and notification'

I tried that. There is no icon for the "local area connection"

What happens if you disable the wireless antenna (FN-F5), then reboot

If I disable the WiFi and reboot (with the ethernet cable plugged in), it will come up with the icon of the wireless with an X through it showing I don't have wireless. But nothing shows (on the notification bar) that I have ethernet. I do have it though and at the right ethernet speed.

Interesting. Well if you run Lenovo's Access Connections I'd try de-installing then re-installing that.

On my X201 it just says "Network" and applies to both the wired and wireless connections.
