ThinkPad T41 HMD

Well my T41 met an unfortunate end!!! A liquid spill made it into the planar and fried it!!! I got a replacement motherboard but the serial numbers don't match!!! The T41 is operational again!! but I would like to have the serial number reflected correctly!

Would anyone happen to have V1.71 or V1.72? I was unable to find it using a google search.

I just had the serial number fixed on a client's T30 so I could run Software Installer. Your vendor can easily do it for you. ... JD Hurst

I have been unable to find a "Business Partner" in my area.

I am/was IBM certified(have a nice wood IBM plaque with my name and some brass "cert" tags to go along with it), I left the techical relm of IBM some years back!! I still have many of the tools of the trade including V1.62 of the HMD. I have no problem asking for help, is just that none seem available for the "regular joe" which I have become at this point for not being IBM endorsed anymore!!!

I have looked in the yellow pages as well as on IBM's site and doing a google!!!

There is no indication of IBM partners that do warranty work (all of places that do out-of warranty work DO NO HAVE the HMD and can't re-set the serial #'s)

I also buy "damaged" ThinkPads and sell them after repairs ( I usually don't turn a profit and that is not why I do it); I try to get friends, family and "other folk" to experience a ThinkPad as opposed to a Comp*q or Tosh*ba or any other unfriendly brand!!! I have been successfull at getting many to convert!!! One friend had a Compaq for a while that had been in the shop more times then I could count , I let him use one of my T30's for a few days; when I went to pick up my T30; as I was looking in diss-belief after he announced he was switching to IBM and HAD purchased a T30; he continued his conversation by graving the Compaq, throwing it on the floor, stepping on it and picking it up and throwing it in the garbage!!!!( I own personally Two T30's and a T41 Ironically I have ThinkPad protection on ONE T30 )

FYI: The T41 was purchased with Wine Spilled on it for a Song!!!
under $200 for a T42 motherboard in MINT condition.. (same chip set..everything identical to the T41..even the controller and bios updates for the T41 worked fine on it)

Due to the fact that most of the ThinkPads I work on now requiere something else other then V1.62 I need to find the "upgrade"

But for now if anyone can point me to a re-seller that can reset my T41 that would be great!!!
