rundll32.exe grabbing 98-100% of CPU

#1 Post by Nimby » Mon Jun 14, 2004 7:22 am

From looking at other posts there seems to be a known problem with the Battery Maximiser causing slow running on the T41. I have a new T41 and so does my colleague, both run XP Pro. He has terrible problems with slow running and it is always rundll32.exe that is grabbing it. I ocassionaly get it. It is definitley not a spyware or virus problem.

I can only guess that it is the Battery Maximiser as others have pointed to this. They recommend disabling it?

How do you disable it? I can only find a BM Wizard (neither I nor my colleague can remember if either of us have ever run it!). If we have, how do we disable?
Thanks for your help

If I remember correctly, click (or right-click) the battery thing that is just left of the system tray, and exit it. I think it will automatically disable itself from starting then. And of course, if that doesn't work, you can always remove it from the registry (should be in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run or HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run).

I think the latest version of the program fixed that bug. Try updating the software if you'd like to continue using it.
