All A31 Users, is your casing giving squaking noise?

#1 Post by stingbandel » Tue Mar 29, 2005 6:16 pm

I just notice that around the hand rest above the speaker, if I push a little bit downward, I hear the squaking noise.

This makes the laptop like a cheap one cause it doesn't have a firm body.

I went to IBM service center and they said every A31 like that.

So I am asking if any of you who have A31 experience problem like me.

Thanks

Darno

my a31p doesn't do that. But you might try checking to see if the case screws are tight.

the screws are tight. I suspect there's something wrong with the case. However, I just want to make sure that I am the only one that is having the problem.

with that, I can make sure the IBM tech to replace the case for me.

maybe others want to clarify it for me.

thanks

My palm rest feels solid, but one of my ultrabay is empty. I noticed that when it is empty there us less support from the bottom and the keyboard seem to vibrate on the side wit empty ultrabay.

I saw ultrabay floppy drives for $5 buy it now on e-bay. May be I will just use that.

A series is definitely not as solid as the T series. But it is pretty comfortable now that I am getting used to it.

I don't really need any power to make the case squakes.

I am sure now that the case has problem.

High Pitched Sqweek Fix

#11 Post by jack NYC » Tue May 03, 2005 10:21 am

I had this horrible high pitched "buzz" when I first got my A31P in 2003. After a bios update it was fixed. Hard to believe a bios update did the trick but it was documented and it def worked.
