Haven't used one since the '90s. Love them, though, and I'm thinking of getting another one.

Computers do exactly what you tell them at amazing speeds; this can be bad if what you told them wasn't what you had in mind.

using a Model M compatible built by Unicomp at work, not as good as the original steel plate IBM version Model M, but it is still the best mechanical keyboard out there.

I have over half a dozen, using one currently in my room (main machines) connected to a KVM. Since I collect PS/2 MCA systems I tend to snag Model M keyboards for them.

If you like Model M clicky keyboards snag an old Northgate, they are also very good.

I have one Model M and about 6-7 of the M-13 models. I started out with one M-13 and liked it so much I bought a "few" extras. I figure they probably weren't going to get any cheaper with time.

From what I understand, the M keyboards were durable in most ways, but are susceptible to moisture. The traces in these boards are fairly large though, so if you open it up you may be able to fix it. If you have keys that aren't working, it might be worth a shot.

I've got one of the early Lexmark Model Ms at my work desk. I love it.

I've also got an M13 at home (which I don't use, as I don't really like it too much).

I'm considering getting one of the early-model IBM Model Ms (with the stabilizers), but I'm having trouble finding one in very good to mint condition. I'm willing to pay, but there just aren't that many out there...

I have two other keyboard models that I prefer more than the Model M: the Apple Keyboard and the Apple Extended Keyboard II. The former is a great compact keyboard with excellent Orange ALPS switches and has the Control key in the correct position, and the latter has dampened ALPS switches which (to my knowledge) were never used in any other keyboard. I love the feel of the AEKII more than any other keyboard, but the AK is a close second. I'm refurbishing a couple AKs right now, and will be converting at least one to USB...
