How do I set tpfan to run at full speed on my t61p?

#1 Post by Phidelio » Thu Jun 09, 2011 8:45 am

Having heat problems on this one and need to let the fan run at high rpm all the time. How do I set TPfan to do that by default? Thx guys!
Currently has a silly amount of Thinkpads: 600|600e|T20|R31|R40|R50e|R60e|T40|T40p|T41|X40|X40|X41Tablet|T61p|T61p|T61p wuxga

I suggest you read the documentation (!), which is the obvious place to start. In ThinkPad Fan Control - FAQ is says very clearly:
Q: I have installed TPFanControl as a service. On startup, the application always reverts to Smart mode. Is there any way to set Fan Level 7 as default upon startup?
A: Download latest built & edition 0.62 NOW! Set in TPFanControl.ini: Active=3, ManFanSpeed=7
I personally believe that questions relating to the use of "ThinkPad Fan control" were better suited for the thread (or, actually, sticky); Thinkpad Fan Noise Problem: Light at the End of the Tunnel.

On a side note: Please fix your location - as of now it is very unclear, for no reason. Thanks in advance.

GBG can also mean the Channel Island of Guernsey (Great Britain Guernsey).

Have you taken the laptop apart and cleaned out the fan exhaust? You should.

Also redo the thermal paste while you are there.

Been there, done that.

Hi Perry

Yeah.. I have been contemplating doing that. Lets hope its just a matter of dust and not replacing fans etc..
