USB DVD Burner driver for Win XP

#1 Post by thesmadge » Mon Jun 13, 2011 11:55 am

We have received new x120e. Also, just arrived were the usb hub and the dvd burner. problem with hub also, but not main issue.

Main issue is the documentation states this burner works with Win XP but the laptop does nor recognize the device. Tried all three usb ports in combination, with no success. Our windows 7 see the device with no problem. checking with lenovo site could not find a driver for it anywhere. The os see it as a mass storage deivce.

as a mass storage device?
you should give more details, which model is it?
A driver should not be needed, if so, check the manufacturers homepage, not Lenovos.

I'd try the burner on another machine just to rule out it's not defective. Windows I wouldn't think should need a driver for a USB. That's probably included with the OS.

I agree - no driver should be necessary.

I have found that some USB DVD drives will read fine with 1 USB port connected - but require 2 to write. Could this be your problem?
