w510 battery
My w510 is about 8 months old, now. I was told to set the charging cycle to begin charging at 85%. Well...I've done that, but now my machine will only run about 20 minutes on battery alone. What should I do about this?

How much battery wear is there?
What is the full charge and design capacity as listed in Power Manager's battery tab?

Launch Power Manager, go to the Battery tab.
Look in the list below for the entries "Design capacity" and "Full charge capacity". Ideally, these should be equal, but it does decrease with time.

Re: w510 battery
Well...I finally got around to checking my battery status while I had both laptops booted up at the same time...my net machine and my business machine...the latter being the Lenovo.
Battery check says 100% of original battery capacity is available. However, if I unplug the thing...turn the screen intensity way down, or whatever I do....at about 35 minutes, the machine shuts off w/o giving me a chance to save anything. When I turn it back on, it asks me if I want to restart Windows normally.

Re: w510 battery
While on battery power, what is the wattage reading in Power Manager (same pane as the capacity info)?

Take a look at this:
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloa ... MIGR-70812
Should the above link not apply to your battery, it might still be a good idea to reset the battery gauge, i.e. to recalibrate the battery. You do that in the ThinkVantage Power Manager.
