How worn does a battery have to be before IBM replaces it?

#1 Post by aphex » Wed Mar 30, 2005 9:26 pm

My T41 used to get about 3.5-4hrs on a charge (sometimes even over 5).

Well ive had it for about 11 months and i can now usually only get about 1.45-2.25 hours on a charge, yet the battery health shows its full capacity is 38ish (when design cap is around 48 ) and says the health is good.

Think they would replace it?

Batteries naturally degrade with use and over time. 38 Watt*Hrs for 11 months use sounds about normal (I'm at 32 Watt*Hrs after 22 months). It is doubtful IBM would replace the battery unless its health is 'red' (by the Battery Maximiser software) or fails completely.

I had one replaced at about 25WH - but the health was red.
