600e German keyboard

#1 Post by cmarksmith » Thu Mar 31, 2005 7:50 pm

I have just bought a 600e which was made for Germany. Can anyone please advise me as to how to convert this for UK use. Do I need a new keyboard? Do I need different drivers? (I have the original IBM German supplied drivers disk). Will anything else need altering on the laptop for UK use. Thanks for your time. Kind regards, Mark

Does it have German windows on it? If so and you want English you'll have to format and load English Windows....an English US or UK keyboard can be bought for pretty cheap on eBay or other merchants...just do a google search for the latter. You can download all of the drivers from www.ibm.com and click on Thinkpad and then downloads...I think that's it...anyway, if you click around in the IBM site you'll find everything you need, though I suspect that most drivers are universal and not dependent on language. Configuration Manager however will be language dependent as well as Battery Maximizer if you use that.

Good luck!
