X220: Cinema 4D R12 won't start

#1 Post by fxxking » Mon Jul 18, 2011 4:22 pm

Hi everyone,
Cinema 4d R12 won't start on my x220 (Product ID 4290W1C, core i5, 8 GB RAM, 320 GB HDD, Win7 64 Bit Professional). I get an error message with an bug report that reads the following:

Code: Select all

Exception
	{
		ExceptionNumber = 0xC0000005
		ExceptionText = "ACCESS_VIOLATION"
		Address = 0x0000000000000000
		Thread = 5164
		Last_Error = 0x00000000
	}
According to the Maxon support this means that the crash was caused by the built-in Intel graphics card.
  • I updated to the newest lenovo drivers - no effect.
    I updated to the newest intel drivers - no effect.
    I switched to some older intel drivers - no effect.
But when I uninstalled al graphics card drivers and the started Cinema 4D it ran - slow and in low resolution, but it ran. It seems that the graphics drivers are causing a conflict in some way.

Anyone having the same problems and/or knowing a solution for my problem? Or is there anyone running C4D r12 without problems?

Any Ideas will be appreciated.

Thanks, Felix

welcome to the forum!

have you tried installing C4D as an administrator and with all antivirus apps disabled?   this can cause issues with a lot of 3D apps and might affect C4D as well.

i don't use C4D but do use autodesk inventor pro 2012 on the X220 and it works quite well.   and, even though it uses a different engine than C4D, cinebench R11.5 x64 ran fine the few times i used it for benchmarking.

Hi Erik,
just tried it with antivirus disabled and as admin - no change, doesn't start. Neither the 32 bit nor the 64 bit executable. Thanks for your thoughts.

Since I can't find any hint in the internet that others have the same problem, it looks like there is some problem with my specific computer.

Can anyone confirm that C4D R12 runs on the X220? I had no problems with 11.5 ...

Best,
Felix

Hi I am having the same problem with trying to get my 64 bit one to work properly. I keep getting a message when opening that there is a bug problem or something and i should go to the bug report but i have no idea what to do in there. However when i did install my C4D it downloaded both a 32 and 64 bit one. I can get the 32 bit one to open but not the 64 bit one. I would really like to run this, if you managed to find the solution I would really like to know.

If not im going to reinstall because someone said that when they installed it everything just worked properly for him no problems :x

Thanks

Hi sleepy guy,
Neither version worked for me. I reinstalled Windows & C4D with no effect. But finally I solved the problem. With the option "-noopengl" I was able to start C4D. Then I could go to the options and disable 3D-Hardware-Accelaration. Now it was possible to start without that "-noopengl" option.

It's getting even better: Now I was able to start the update from within the program. After a restart, I could re-enable 3D-Hardware-Accelaration. It worked with some glitches. After installing the latest Intel driver I had no issues any more.

Hope, that helpes you.

Best, Felix
