Whoa, I didn't see these coming. A pen-capable android system
would indeed be perfect for me and I'm intrigued by the optional
keyboard. Can't wait for the first reviews!

I hope it will have support for windows 8 ARM.. And i hope it will be up to the "Thinkpad" standard - and not just another consumer tablet!!

Thinkpad T61F 14" (2.53 GHz QX9300, 6 GB RAM, Quadro FX570m 256 MB, SXGA). Advanced dock with AMD Radeon HD7750

Why would you want that? It's not like Windows on ARM would run any of the existing Windows applications...

This Thinkpad tablet is the first tablet I've seen that includes a non-micro USB port. A bit heavy at 1.6 lbs though.

Today, Staples has a $100 coupon for any in-store tablet, and I was slightly tempted to use it to buy an Asus Eee Pad. It has a keyboard dock and an IPS screen just like this Thinkpad. But I decided it's better to keep waiting for a tablet that can run Microsoft Office.
Microsoft Surface 3 (Atom x7-Z8700 / 4GB / 128GB / LTE)
Dell OptiPlex 9010 SFF (Core i3-3220 / 8GB / 8TB); HP 8300 Elite minitower (Core i7-3770 / 16GB / 9.25TB)
Acer T272HUL; Crossover 404K; Dell 3008WFP, U2715H, U2711, P2416D; Monoprice 10734; QNIX QHD2410R; Seiki Pro SM40UNP

I think there will be a little more productivity in windows 8 for ARM. I couldn't imagine anything else, than microsoft will port Office to ARM. And i dont like Android.. Im more for windows CE :D And if its not that good at all - its still a nice option!

Windows 8 is starting at a major disadvantage though. Android already has tens of thousands of apps out there for it, not to mention hardware support on a range of devices.

Sure, MS will almost certainly port Office to Windows 8 ARM. But aside from that, I really can't think of any compelling reason to run it. After all, it's not like on the desktop where you can make the (very strong) argument that backwards compatibility with 20+ years of apps makes Windows a better choice for some businesses.

Regarding the ThinkPad tablet... I actually can't comment much on that. It's close to what I'd envisioned when I thought of a ThinkPad tablet. I like it.

Can anyone confirm if the keyboard will dock with the slate in portrait mode, or did Lenovo blow it?

From the video the thinkpad android tablet almost certainly will only connect in landscape mode with the keyboard. In portrait mode it would be only 800 pixels wide, what are you going to do with that?

Acer and Toshiba both have models with standard-size USB ports. The Toshiba also has a mini-USB (yes, mini, not micro!) and a full-size HDMI port).
