T21 800Mhz CPU Shows as 644Mhz Always

#1 Post by jasew503 » Wed Jul 20, 2011 3:14 pm

I have a T21 that has the 800Mhz P3 with 256MB Ram. In windows XP, CPUID, ect it shows up as a 644Mhz CPU. I can turn off all speedstep / set the bios to max performance, but it will not show in windows or any other programs as anything faster than 644Mhz. The Bios does however show it as an 800Mhz P3 CPU. Any Ideas?

To run at 800MHz, the laptop needs to be on AC AND have a working battery!

Which exact CPU model are you referring to? Is it listed on http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Pro ... 436.0.html?

The link provided shows what appears to be all newer processors. So no, this is a T21 with a PENTIUM 3 CPU..

Machine Type is 2647, same as the T20s. So whatever 800Mhz P3 CPU that came in the T21 would be it..

Best place I found to do CPU research is http://www.cpu-world.com/

it goes all the way from the original Intel CPU: http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/4004/index.html to the newest AMD Bobcat CPU: http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Bobcat/TYPE-C-Series.html

And it looks like the T21 SL4GT is: http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Pentium-I ... 56%29.html

Double-check your Windows Power Options settings: found in Display Properties/Screen Saver tab/Power button/Power Schemes and/or Battery MaxiMiser Wizard Power Schemes.
