Wifi on x60

#1 Post by Unibiggle » Fri Jul 22, 2011 2:34 am

I'm going to install os x 10.6.7 on my x60 using sebinhouse's guide. Can't seem to work out if the wireless will work or not from all the reading I'm doing. I Guessing it won't and need an updated wireless card. Can someone suggest which card please, I've looked on eBay at atheos ones but some people say they don't work with thinkpads. Will a USB wifi adapter work better or at all!??

Confused.com = Me!!

Thanks

You need to know which WIFI Card your X60 you have :

Code: Select all

Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Mini-PCI Express Adapter
ThinkPad 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini Express Adapter (Chipset: Atheros AR5006EX (As printed on card AR5BXB6) or AR5212)
ThinkPad 11a/b/g/n Wireless LAN Mini Express Adapter (Chipset: Atheros AR5418/AR5008)
The first one is not (yet ?) supported ... you can google for "project camphor mercurysquad"
The others are supported with a simple text edition inside a kext file.
Lenovo X60t (6363-AQ8)
  • Intel CoreDuo 1,67 GHz (L2400)
  • 3 Go / 320 Go / GMA950 / FW 400 / SD Card
  • Bluetooth / Wifi AR5BXB6 / Tablet
WinXP / MacOSX 10.6.8 (DSDT patch and vanilla SLE)

I have the intel pro wireless unfortunately. Easier to change or just get a wifi USB adapter?

Also sebinhouse, I'm having probs installing using your guide. I've posted in that forum, if you could have a look and let me know what I'm doing wrong 

Thanks
