W510 Micro-SATA SSD would work as an ext. USB drive?

#1 Post by phli » Sat Jul 23, 2011 4:28 am

Hello,
My Thinkpad W510 crashed due to virus. I installed W510's internal Toshiba 1.8" 128GB SSD with W510's micro-SATA to SATA adaptor into a SATA / USB external drive enclosure trying to salvage my personal stuffs. But none of the PC could see this ext. drive. I have tried different PCs, Laptops, Win 7, Win XP but none of them works. Can anyone help?

The Mirco-SATA SSD drive is a Toshiba 1.8" 128GB (Lenovo FRU 45N8203)

Thanks in advance

Phil

Welcome to the forum!

It sounds like your external enclosure is not working or is not compatible with the Lenovo storage converter.

You may want to try an enclosure with native support for the uSATA interface like this one.
