I've never used pure Debian on a T60, but have used a couple of Debian based distros and seems everything worked just fine. I only run into problems when I try installing today's OS on a ten year old ThinkPad.

You do know you can boot the live CD to check all this stuff before you install, right?

Pretty much. You'll need to install the firmware for your wireless card if you have an Intel card (thank you lawyers...) -- but that just takes a couple clicks.
Need help with Linux or FreeBSD? Catch me on IRC: I'm ThinkRob on FreeNode and EFnet.
