Display defect -vertical stripes

#1 Post by marcos » Sun Jul 24, 2011 3:45 pm

My T400s display started developing vertical stripes of white, black or random color, each stripe is about 1.5" wide.
If I press at the base of the display, the stripe changes color an most of the time goes away.

Does anybody know what is the faulty component, Since I had success asking for free replacement parts using the online web service, I want to try that before shipping my machines out.
T440s OK so far.
T420s NVIDIA graphics. Nice, then MB failure.
T400s Workhorse. two of'em, both faulty display with vertical stripes.
T43 °very nice° - MB reflown and dead, two of'em.
T42 15°, dead onboard wireless.
T40, dead memory slot, stolen from me
T30, stolen from me
TP600 dead

It sounds like faulty column drivers in the panel. They will not ship the panel to you

richk is correct.

LCD panels are not considered CRUs, and thus will not be shipped to end-users. You'll have to get depot service (or an on-site replacement if you have a warranty that allows for that.)
