T60 repeated standby issue

Hi all,
I recently got a refurbished T60 2008-J2U( funny thing- not in the tab book and the online listing has 1024x768 display mine is 1400x1050) running windows sp3. Nice machine (still like my t43p though). After entering standby via either the hot key or lid close the unit goes into standby very fast, however when resumed after about 5 seconds the unit prepares to standby yet again either in an admin or limited account or at the login screen. The second time it takes longer to sleep but resume is normal. I ran bootvis but could not see anything odd with the two sequences. Trolling with procmon didnt show anything either. I did search here and alsewhere but the only reference i saw was that an earlier version of the power manager would do this with when using power agenda's but i am not using those and I have the latest version of the power manager- though not the latest version of the driver-updating that next.
