X60 Tablet - Multitouch?

#1 Post by grunger106 » Thu Jul 28, 2011 1:49 pm

Hi

I'm a long time reader and Thinkpad owner (T20,21,23,X30,31,X60):) but first post here so hello!

I've just got a X60 tablet from ebay with a screen that apparently goes dim or off when moved, I suspect this will be a loose or damaged screen cable, a bad inverter or a damaged LCD - thats fine I can replace that lot.

I'd really like a multi-touch unit, and it seems to be difficult to work out which X60 tablets are or aren't. Its a 6364-CTO (I don't have it yet) is there anyway to tell if its a stylus only screen currently?
If it is I can just replace the LCD itself, if it isn't, can I make it multitouch with the right parts?

Cheers

Welcome to the forum!

Multitouch became available with the introduction of X61. AFAIK, all X60 tablets are pen-only.

Thanks - Its a great forum you guys have here! :)

Lenovo do a MT driver for the X60 - So I'm assuming some of them have it http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-67220

Some X60's had Multitouch. Once you get the machine, look up the machine type and serial at this link, then click on factory parts listing. Look up the original LCD part and google it.

If it isn't a MT screen can it be made one?
What makes it MT - I'm assuming it isn't the actual LCD presumably it is some kind of membrane something between the panel and the finger? Like the sheet on the rear of the LCD that picks up the stylus clicks....

Can you just bolt a MT screen on to an standard X60t (assuming you can find one)

I now have the machine,
It has a 'Wide Viewing Angle and High Density Display'

It doesn't appear to respond to finger touch, I don't have a stylus for it, and Win7 reports Pen Touch available...
I'm assuming this is a Pen Only....

I'd check on the IBM site as suggested above with my S/N - but the site is now dead, and the lenovo part checker doesn't like the S/N (the warrenty checker works though)

I can't currently update the BIOS - I don't have a battery, but I guess this is just a pen model....

Hey, I've owned my ThinkPad X60 Tablet. Firstly I did not notice since I bought the machine in Feb 2015 in a small shop in HK, but now in Sep same year, I updated the machine through Lenovo's update centre, and figured out mine is a Multitouch machine...

If you have the high density 1400x1050 display, consider yourself lucky - it's a great display, fairly well saught after. I wouldn't trade it for the 1024x768 multitouch capable one if I were you, unless that's a seriously high priority.

My mistake, I didn't see that. Though, looking at the thread, I wasn't the one who bumped it...
