Will my old T41 14" LCD work swapped onto my R61?
Will my old T41 14" LCD work swapped onto my R61?
So my R61i 14.1" LCD (1200x800) is dying. It is almost certainly the CCFL, because there's a pinkish tinge on the left side of the screen that's been getting worse, and the LCD also flickers on and off intermittently every so often (for a second or two).
Finally, there is a increasing constant flickering where the display doesn't go dark, but gets slightly dimmer (this is constant now).
I've had this R61i since 2008 and have used it extensively. It's been a workhorse. I don't want to upgrade now, because I am not a big fan of Windows7 (I like XPsp3), and want to wait to Ivy Bridge comes out to see what performance/efficiency gains there are above Sandy Bridge.
Anyways, I have a T61 that I can afford to take the LCD off of (it's an IBM pre-Lenovo 1200x800 LCD screen), and it's also 14.1". It looks, at least from a cursory glance, to be the exact same type of LCD as the one on the R61.
Does anyone think this wouldn't work on the R61i?
I could order a new CCFL for $12 and install it, but it's not exactly a simple procedure, as the tiny bulb is delicate and there is some soldering involved.
Thoughts? Opinions?
Thanks.

The lid can be moved with no modification needed.

Thank you for that very quick reply, rich!richk wrote:The lid can be moved with no modification needed.
And forgive me if this is an ignorant question, but I assume "lid" means the whole assembly, including the LCD panel and the frame, backlight, etc?

Yep. Good luck! (Just curious, why put this in the T4x0/T5x0 subforum?)

Thanks, Rich. I truly appreciate it.sysiphus wrote:

I put it in here because I just assumed that there are more T4x owners vs R6xx owners, whether that's true or not, and because I also figured that someone with a T4xx might have had a similar situation (swapping parts).
Thanks again.
Re: Will my old T61 14" LCD work swapped onto my R61?
OK, you're going to have to be much more specific here. Are you swapping a lid from a T41 to a R61, or from a T61 to an R61? You've stated both variations in posts in this thread. One will work (T61 to R61), one won't (T41 to R61). You originally put this thread n the T4x0/T5x0 forum..as in T400/T500. I moved it to the T6X (as in T61) forum.
