Buy thinkpad without OS or with DOS

Reading/searching through this forum and notebook review forums, i realized some folks have been able to customize new laptops without the windows OS and with only DOS, they reported a savings of upto $100.

How can i do this?
When i goto lenovo website and customize, there is no option to remove windows...

I have multiple retail copies of windows that i can use, so i dont need the OS on the laptop i get.,..

Above average technical experience with PCs and software are typically required to install the software and drivers needed to make these systems fully functional.
