I seem to have a driver and/or configuration issue with an R61, as while not state of the art, this hardware should be handle this. When I open a folder or window, say 'My Computer', the animation that expands the window is very choppy. It's not related to file list or thumbnail generation in a big folder where Windows 'scans' to generate the view, it's the animation of the opening folder that stutters.
Specs: T7250(2GHz), 3GB RAM, WD Scorpio Blue 5400 RPM drive, 15.4in 1680x1050 LCD, 128MB nVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M, Windows Ultimate 32-bit SP1
Windows 7 ''visual effects" option is set to "Let Windows choose what's best for my computer". This results in all except the 'Save taskbar thumbnail previews' being checked.
Windows Experience Index: Processor 5.1, Memory 5.1, Graphics 4.0, Gaming graphics 5.3, Primary hard disk 5.7
This is essentially a clean install, patched to latest, no programs, etc. running in background. I have only downloaded updates using the Windows Updater but included various options including the NVidia control panel. NVidia Control Panel is installed, 3D settings are set to "Let the 3D application decide".
When Windows was first initially installed, before the NVidia control panel, Windows Experience Index was not able to rank the Graphics components and gave it a 1.0. but the opening of folders seemed smoother.
Any takers?

Does the animation work correctly in 'safe mode' ?

Re: Not-so-weak R61 has issues opening Windows 7 folders
I could not get the Win 7/Aero effects to function in Safe Mode. That's probably as intended.
Back in normal mode, under 'Personalize' changing to any other default theme other than Win 7 default seems to have mysteriously resolved the issue....!?
Strange. Will report back if issue turns out to not to have been resolved.
