T60p screen freezes and fades to gray

#1 Post by theo5 » Tue Aug 02, 2011 11:53 am

Help - the screen on my trusty T60p has developed a fault where the image freezes and gradually fades to gray (see picture at http://www.flickr.com/photos/20713730@N00/6002129622/ ).

If I apply some twisting pressure across the top of the screen, though, the screen works again. If I manage to get it in just the right position, it will be fine until the screen is moved. This is a 15" non-widescreen, model 2007-FBG.

I thought it might be the LCD cable, so I replaced that, but it didn't help unfortunately.

Any idea what might be wrong??

thanks,
theo

I've had this happen on a MacBook.
Ended up replacing the whole LCD assembly because it cost the same as the panel itself.
At first I also thought it was just the LVDS cable, but did some googling and it seems to be a problem with the LCD panel itself.

Ordered a new LCD from cgsplcd and it's working again! Three cheers for cgsplcd.
