R60 / Blue Screen - Parity check / Memory Parity Error

#1 Post by pianisthuy » Thu Aug 04, 2011 5:30 am

I have a Lenovo-IBM Thinkpad R60 9461-HRG. I have only a new RAM for it, about 2GB
I had got a Blue Screen - Parity check/ MOemory Parity error with my computer now
It said:

*** Hardware Malfunction
Call your hardware vendor for support
NMI: Parity Check/Memory Parity Error
*** The system has halted ***

I installed windows 7, if I didn't install thi driver for my Video card ATi X1400, I haven't got this problem. As soon as I installed the driver for it, I got this problem(autoupdate from Microsoft or special driver for X1400, I have the samve problem)
What should I do now?
and how can i resolve this problem?
Thank you for your help!

Welcome to the forum.

You need to install/run SystemUpdate 4.0 to get all the latest updates/drivers.
Under XP this problem used to be caused by outdated wifi-drivers.
Don't know (yet) what causes it in W7.
Another thing: update to the latest BIOS and EC versions, and do NOT update within Windows! Use the CD/iso version.

FYI: the R60 is the same as the T60, only with a different shell. Search also in the "T6x Series" for similar problems.

Just an update on my memory parity error.

Since connecting to Wifi through an external, Usb Wifi adapter for the last two weeks, I have experienced no memory parity errors.

I had suspected that the internal Wifi card, being connected to the system bus, could indeed generate the memory parity error, as shown by the experience of many laptop users on various forums. This appears to be the case.

I've already installed and used System Update
But problem didn't solve. If I installed the pack from Microsoft for win 7 ATi X1400, I can't enter my windows
may be problem is my ATi Card(chipset)?

Pull out the wireless card.

If the system appear stable after that, you've found the culprit. Replace the wireless card and you're all set.

If not, start looking for a new motherboard.
