USB hub intermittent connection

#1 Post by phil81uk » Sat Aug 06, 2011 9:47 am

Hello.

I use a USB so that I only have to plug/unplug one USB lead when I use my X301 at home. At first I used a cheap Trust USB hub, and occasionally it would intermittently stop working. I'd be working away and suddenly my mouse and USB speakers (which were plugged via the hub) would stop working. Then they would start again after a few seconds or minute, or I would unplug and replug the hub and it would be fine. I put it down to being a cheap hub. I replaced the hub and the same happened. Then I bought a different brand powered hub, but the same still happens.

My X301 is under warranty so Lenovo replaced the motherboard when I reported a problem with the USB port. This didn't solve the problem. I tried a different USB port. Didn't solve it. I also tried connecting only one device at a time to the hub to see if a device was causing the problem, but no pattern could be found to the fault.

Any ideas on what to do next?

Thank you.

The latest hub is a powered one. It has an AC/DC adaptor plugged into it.
