R60 battery regenerates itself ?

#1 Post by bebilakner » Sat Aug 06, 2011 11:35 am

Here's a curious case with my R60's battery.
In a matter of months and after performing several battery resets, my battery started to show full charge capacity lower and lower with each reset performed. In 3 months it stated full charge capacity at 18.42 Wh and was shown in red, as poor battery.
But one day I've disabled shutdown accidentaly so my R60 worked till battery was completely discharged. I've tried to power on my notebook several times, but the battery was completely discharged. So I've connected the AC adapter and I left the notebook for approx. 5 hours without powering on. After that, when I powered on my sweet R60, surprise: battery was showing full charge capacity 37.80Wh with green status of good condition.
I performed once more a battery reset wich dropped down my battery at 18Wh again, so I've decided today to repeat the whole procedure, and it worked again. After completely discharging my battery, I left it turned off but on AC adapter for 5 hours again, and now at startup battery shows full charge capacity 35.70Wh with green good condition.
And in charge thresholds section I left it on "Optimize for battery lifespan" option.
Worked for me, maybe will help others. But be aware that this could lead in some cases to kill a battery.
