z61 vs t61

Whats the diff?? Can the cases be swapped? can parts be swapped? are they the same?

They are not the same.

Z61 is the widescreen equivalent of the T60. T61 is newer.

Parts that can be swapped between the two are keyboards, RAM, wireless cards (in most cases), and possibly LCD panels (not whole LCD assemblies).

Also, Z61 has the same RAM limitations as the T60 (4GB with only ~3GB usable), where T61/R61 can take 8GB.
Z61 is NOT a variety of T61/R61.
