x220 not non-sp-windows 7 compatible?

#1 Post by ssd_thinkpad » Mon Aug 08, 2011 4:48 pm

I installed original windows 7 (not sp1) on my x220 by dvd on my intel 80gb msata.

- the graphic is strange, the display is like 800x600 but streched
- wlan not working
- lan not working

The sata hdd lenovo-windows works fine. So does the windows-7-lenovo-recovery on my msata. How can I clean install a windows 7 on my x220 with msata that can use wlan and where lan is working?

Did you install the relevant drivers, it sounds like you didn't? If you install Windows 7 from Lenovo recovery image, it works fine because it came with all the drivers pre-installed. If you did a clean install of Windows 7, go to Lenovo website and download System Update. It will detect your machine and download the relevant drivers for you.

I installed windows 7 from my original DVD. After this "install" I could not go to internet, not by wlan, and not by lan. Does anybody else noticed this behavior?

I will try to clean install again, but this time with a usb stick containing all relevant drivers.

You don't need to re-do the clean install. Just download the wifi card driver from Lenovo onto a USB drive using another computer. Once you can get online, it's pretty straight forward to download the rest of the drivers needed.
