t61 keyboard crapping out
t61 keyboard crapping out
A lot of keys are very hard to activate now. They're not sticking but they skip all the time unless I type very slowly and firmly. I'm a light, fast typist so this is awful. What do I do? Cleaning hints? Replace keyboard? I don't think I spilled anything in it or anything like that. Thanks for any help.
Re: t61 keyboard crapping out
If you do a lot of typing it would not be uncommon to have to replace a keyboard on a 4 year old machine. I don't think 'cleaning' is going to help that issue unless there is a lot of debris under the keytops. Remove the keyboard and blow it out with canned air if that is the case. .
Re: t61 keyboard crapping out
I too have noticed the odd key getting a bit reluctant to function.
What I have done is acquire the Thinkpad USB keyboard (complete with red ultranav pointer). My motives were to have keyboard I can sometimes use when leaning back in my chair - more comfortable following surgery than leaning over the keyboard. This arrangement is also more comfortable when using the T61 connected to my large 27inch screen. The T61 is to one side, the screen is close enough for good viewing and the new keyboard leans against table edge and my lap.
Several problems resolved for this older user.

Daniel,
I tried to reply to your PM but it said you have PM receipt turned off. Can you reset it and try again? Thanks.

Hi, as I said in my message, you can reach me via email (see signature below).
(It's much easier/faster for me to communicate through email than the PM system, so that's why I prefer to receive emails directly).
