Having trouble removing a POP password....

Before I get to far into this, let me make clear I am not asking for help removing a Supervisory password.

According to the T60 HMM, a POP password is removed by removing the main and cmos batteries and booting.

Unfortunately, after I do that the prompt remains.

I am 100% certain there is not a Supervisory Password set and there is no HDD installed in the machine.

Just wondered if anyone had any ideas or alternate methods of POP removal.

Unfortunately, you DO have a Supervisor password (SVP).
Were you able to change anything in the BIOS before you were locked out?
Some BIOSes also have the nasty habit to turn a PowerOnPassword into a SVP, if you remove the CMOS battery.
This is likely what happened in your case.

No, I didn't have a SVP set.

I did find the solution, though.

Although the HMM does not state this, it is necessary to remove both batteries AND unplug the AC Adapter and let the machine sit for about 5 minutes.

Then, plug in the AC adapter and power on.

The POP is now removed.
