Free Fandango giftcard for advice on Reinstalling Vista

#1 Post by x40Dallas » Fri Aug 12, 2011 2:31 pm

I am not able to access the recovery partition on my thinkpad X61T, and need to reinstall Vista on it. It now has XP, but in the process of using acronis to try to restore from an earlier backup, I may have messed-up the MBR, and it is telling me "OS failed to load". Please let me know any ideas for getting the machine back to factory condition. It appears to have one 459GB partition, and one ~5.8GM partition. I do have an image I took of the recovery partition, but after restoring it, I am un able to bring up the recovery menu to acces it.

I posted the question on my web-app that lets me send you a fandango gift card code for trying to answer it (so please tell me any thoughts) because I need to do this asap because I'm trying to sell the thinkpad (X61T SXGA).

One of these repair disks might work. Upon occasion, they have worked for me with various systems and the same issue that you have.

Good luck.
