Wireless cannot connect to home network

#1 Post by biged143 » Fri Aug 12, 2011 4:37 pm

Hello all!! I have a very knotty problem with my T42 I has a B wireless card and will not connect to my home network. I have WPA PSK on my router when I set the T42 up it will have WPA PSK but TKIP instead of AES. Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong ? I connected before I did a clean install of XP Pro with SP 2 & SP 3 installed. I have a driver disc and have no splats in device manager. Thank You!!

Which wifi adapter do you have in there? You may just need a newer driver that supports the encryption you are using. Have you changed any settings on the router since it was working? If not, it's just a matter of getting the T42 set up the way it was before.
Collection = T500 - R400 - X300 - X200 - T61 (14" WXGA+) - T61 (14.1" SXGA+) - T60 (15" SXGA+) - X40 - T43p - T43 - T42p - A30P - 600E

Neil Thanks for the prompt reply according to DM and Belarc it is a Cisco PCI wireless lan adapter.
Before it was setup on DD network with no WPA or even WEP !! Oh yeah I know !! Been after her for a long time to secure the darn thing!!

I have a bricked T40in the basement, someone tried to update the bios with an unstable OS and it tanked 1/2 way thru. Going to pull the wireless card out and see what it is.

well the Brick has the same wireless card. No I have noticed that when I enter my 14 digit password it changes to 8 black dots.Why? I have the t42 set up fr WPS PSK. I have XP Pro SP3.I had a similar problem on my R51 but CRS won't let me recall how I fixed it!
