Format pre-load drive

#1 Post by jwxie518 » Sat Aug 13, 2011 4:25 pm

Hi. I have Edge 14, and it is pre-load with Windows 7.

I already created a recovery disc. But I also want to install XP and Ubuntu. So can I do the normal booting and then erase the entire drive? The reason why I want to reformat is because I probably need complete control over hard disk partitions.

Is it okay to erase the pre-load? Can I do it just by booting into my windows disc like I would do to any PC out there?

Last question: can I still use my recovery discs later (one boot, and two discs are my backup recovery discs).
Thanks

You can do all that, BUT, if you later on reuse your recovery CDs, it will wipe the WHOLE hard disk, thus losing XP and Ubuntu.
Alternatively, wipe the whole HD, partitition it with Gparted as desired, then first install XP, then W7 on another partition and finally Ubuntu.
Forget about recovery partitions in this case.

Yes, indeed. Thanks for the response.
