compatibility issues - t6x and x200s and t400s
Hello,
This is my first post here, I thank you in advance for your help.
About a month ago I installed windows 7 on a T61. I tried to move the hard disk from the T61 to a x220 or T410, but windows wouldn't boot. It seems there is some motherboard compatibility issue that is preventing windows that was installed on a T61 to boot on newer models.
Does anyone have any idea how to solve this problem?
Again thanks in advance,

Were you getting a bluescreen? What exactly did it say? Try setting SATA mode to compatibility in BIOS for the X220 or T410.

And I tried to put it on compatibility mode, but it didnt help.

Try it again and write it down ... I am guessing a video driver incompatibility issue. Uninstall the old video driver before transferring the drive over.drcr4zy.and.mrfvck wrote:bluescreen / crash - I don't know what it said

Hi Harryc,
What I get is a black screen that flies away in seconds,I cant even read what it says. Soon after the black screen, it restarts and it says windows crashed and gives the option of starting windows normally, etc. If I disable autorestart, I get the bluescreen - a generic one - it doesn't give any special error number/reason. Also, I cant even do safe mode.
Any ideas?

Does the drive still boot in the T61? Uninstall the old video driver before transferring the drive over.

Yes, it boots in the T61, but not in the T420/X220.
I will uninstall the video driver and let you know how it goes.
Thanks!
