T22 noise

Hi there,

I have a T22. Running W98SE, it seems to be totally silent, apart from the fan or HD.

Running W2k, it sounds different. There is a very, very, very faint constant throbbing sound. Also, upon shutdown, the HD seems to have a 'brake' applied which does not happen running W98SE, when the HD winds down gradually.

Is this 'normal' behaviour?

I never ran Win98 on my T22, but I can assure you, my T22 makes all manner of noises while running Win2K. ;-( I have a click that occurs fairly often, seemingly from the hard disk, the fan runs, the hard disk is audible. Runs like a champ, a noisy champ!

Thanks for that.

I also have a very occassional 'clunk' from what can only be the HD. Other than that, mine sounds like yours so may be everything is normal.

Hopefully everything is fine with the T22. I only noticed the sounds of mine because my 600X was near silent when working hard, so the first time I rifed up the T22, I was freaked from the sounds. It has run flwlessly for the entire time I have owned it (18 months), so I am sure it is okay.
