Upgrade Memory for G40

I read a thread that I can increase the memory on my G40 to 2GB.
Can I confirm the memory module that I need

DDR PC2700 1GB
200 pin laptop module

Is this correct, and anything else I need to specify?

The G40 originally came with PC2100 (266Mhz) DDR memory. Those modules do still exist, however more than likely, you'll find that PC2700 or even PC3200 are the same cost, maybe even cheaper. You will be able to run the PC2700 modules in the G40 but it won't make your system perform any faster. About the only thing that you have to watch out for when putting faster memory into a "slower" system, is that the module have the same "CAS Latency" (CL) spec. The G40 requires CL2.5 so whatever you install, make sure it's also CL2.5.

I plan to replace both memory modules, so matching the existing module won't be an issue.

I currently have 1GB (512MB x2) in my G40, but wanted the extra RAM so the page file won't be swapping so much and slowing the system down.
Too bad this trick can't also be done on the T23.
