Using 90 Watt AC adapter with X201

#1 Post by mpcook » Tue Aug 23, 2011 7:56 am

Are there any advantages / disadvantages to using a 90 watt AC adapter with an X201? I believe they come with the 65 watt adapter, mine bought used came with a 90 watt. I just want to be sure there's no downside to using 90 watts on the X201. I have several 90 watt adapters but they came with the docking stations I have for T400/400s.

No downside at all, except weight. It will work just fine.

OK thanks. I remember seeing some posts on the Lenovo forum about some issues with an X200 series and the 90 watt causing problems with the trackpad but it wasn't clear what was causing the issue, and there didn't seem to be any resolution mentioned.

Don't recall having seen that issue reported here Mike. Well, at least if it occurs you'll know why ....

I went back and checked through the Lenovo board and it turned out to be an issue with the slim adapter so I guess I won' worry about it.

AFAIK, an advantage would be slightly shorter battery charging times.

Sorry but it is not true.
Charging time it is not depended from 65W to 90W adapter.
Inside nb You have charging controller for battery.
