Selecting function keys

#1 Post by Q-Ball » Tue Sep 06, 2011 12:41 am

So after cleaning my keyboard (a good 4-hour soak the keyboard now registers pressing/holding the 'Fn' key as Fn+F7, and then Fn+F3 (which opens the Power Manager).
I want to disable those key sequences without anything else happening (I don't want Fn+F3 to blank the display, for obvious reasons)- since I can't adjust the brightness, for example, without having 2 windows shown (the Projector window and the Power Manager).

Is there a way to modify (i.e. deleting parts of) the program such that it will just let the other key combinations through but ignore those two?

Or, is there a way to keep the Lenovo Mic Mute operational while shuttering the On-Screen Display service (TPHKSVC)?
The two seem to be interdependent for some reason- disabling the OSD service kills the Mic Mute service with it.

I'm liable to try a scheduled task that kills that specific program 10 seconds after micmute.exe (the Mic Mute) starts- since closing that program doesn't have any ill effects on the Mic Mute.

Any ideas?

*Update* It looks like scheduling taskkill in 'Scheduled Tasks' seems to do the job nicely and doesn't create instability in the system.

(Also, replacing the keyboard isn't currently an option- I might do it later, but truth be told I don't miss the extra stuff, and it's one less process.)
