X61s doesn't sleep when lid is closed

#1 Post by bugmn » Fri Sep 09, 2011 3:14 pm

Hi, I'm using Win 7 and the latest Power Manager program (3.62). In there I have it set to go to sleep when the lid is closed on both AC and battery (it's the default anyway). But it doesn't go to sleep.

I went into the Win 7 power options, and into the current profile, and in there it says that when the lid is closed, do nothing. I change it to go to sleep and click apply and OK, but it doesn't end up saving because it still does not go to sleep and if I go back into the profile in Win 7 it goes back to "do nothing".

So for some reason the Win 7 profiles seem to be set to read only and the Power Manager program doesn't successfully sync it seems. If I uninstall PM, it sleeps fine if I close the lid. Reinstalling PM=sleep when lid is closed doesn't work. (sleep still works if I fn+F4)

Can you manually put it into sleep mode?

I was thinking it might be a graphics driver issue, but if it sleeps that way, I dunno what the trouble is. Maybe Lenovo power management features?

OK it's a bug with 3.62. I uninstalled it and installed 3.61 and now it's fine

Does the PM software allow for longer battery life at all compared to the "balanced" setting? It doesn't really seem like it to me
