Latest T60p build date

#1 Post by slpin » Fri Sep 09, 2011 10:59 pm

Tried searching, but for courisity sake - what is the newest T60 or T60p you have seen?
I just got one today with a build date of December, 2007. This thing looks brand spanking new with NMB Keyboard, sierra 3g cdma card, v5200, working 9cell panny battery... etc

The last batch that I had was from mid-2007, and these were with T7600/V5250, 15" SXGA+ screens and new type logos. Gorgeous machines.

Yours is likely amongst the last ones built, which is somewhat confusing given the V5200 GPU. Probably a part of one-off, large corporate order of some kind.

But then again, what do I know... :)

From the amount of Thinkpads that have been through your hands, I believe that you do know what you are saying! :D

It is pretty weird what IBM/Lenovo did with the computers... This one is Dec 2007 with all IBM badgings (!)

The battery is from 2009. It's not surprising it's capacity is ~75Wh. I have batteries from 2006-2007, with about 70Wh capacity on them. Indeed Panasonic batteries rock.

What's more amazing to me is not that it's a T60p manufactured in December 2007, but that it's a first generation T60p (with Core Duo CPU) manufactured in December 2007. Who would order such a machine over a year past the availability date of Core 2 Duo systems?

The ltwbook says it was first released in Feb 2006, and US models were withdrawn effective Oct 2006, Sept 2007, or Dec 2007
http://www.lenovo.com/psref/pdf/ltwbook.pdf
I also looked at every T60/P model there and indeed 12/2007 is the last production date. Some of the earliest T60 models will be 6 years old in early 2012.

This is kind of neat - it looks like it has a Toshiba screen off a T61...
