external monitor T41p

I have a T41p (2374-GGG) with 1400x1050 resolution with a very dimm lcd which I always use at home.
I would like to buy an external LCD to build a desktop station. But before to buy...

Is it possible to connect a 16:10 or a 16:9 external monitor with a resolution comparable to the 1400x1050?

Should I change video setting in XP Pro, or should I install any new different driver to have it working?

The XP Pro installation is the original one from the hidden partition on the Thinkpad. And I never download any additional driver for the video card unitl now.

You should be able to use any monitor with any resolution. The most you'll have to do is update/tweak the video card driver a bit.

Would it be also possible to use the nice option which enlarges the desktop to the external monitor?
