Network Drivers for BartPE Boot CD for T42
Has anyone here created a BartPE boot CD for a T42? I need a boot CD to run my Windows backup/restore program. I successfully created the boot CD, and it works, but I need to add the wired network drivers so I can access my backup disk images.
The instructions on Bart's site are pretty sketchy, and I'm lost. Any help out there?

I used BartPE a couple of times and found it pretty useless.
Doesn't the backup program come with an option to create its own boot CD?

Yes, the program is set up to use BartPE for a boot CD!
The backup program is Image for Windows from Terabyte Unlimited.
It works fine with a local drive but the instructions for giving it access to a network consist of :
"Load your network drivers." Very helpful.
Has anyone here done that successfully?

Re: Network Drivers for BartPE Boot CD for T42
Hi,
Download the LAN driver file from here: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloa ... MIGR-62922
Extract the files from the exe-file to a folder named T42.
Then copy the folder to your BartPE drivers\net-folder. For example: C:\Program Files\pebuilder\drivers\Net\T42
Then compile your bootCD and try starting network support in BartPE.
You can also use USB hard drives if they are plugged in before BartPE is loaded. Much faster than copying image files over network.

Re: Network Drivers for BartPE Boot CD for T42
Thanks for the reply. I was just about about to post a notice here that I had worked through the problem. As you said, I downloaded the IBM driver, but then I directed it where it needed to go, C:\pebuilder3110a\Drivers. The IBM installer made a folder under the ...drivers folder and unpacked the files there. PEBuilder burned the CD and it boots up and runs Image for Windows, but I have one more unanswerable question to deal with: it asks for the DNS suffix or something like that. My Domain Name Server is my Linksys router, but I don't know what to answer in the blank. The example "Microsoft.com" can't be right.
I'm only restoring one computer, so for me it would take longer to use a USB drive: I'd have to copy my image from the network to the USB drive and then restore it, two steps instead of one. Only took 18 minutes for a 22GB restore.

Hi,
Is the network location you are copying the files from, in your private network? If it is, you don't need any DNS suffixes. You can address your server with either its IP-address or NETBIOS name.
If you copied the NIC driver files from the exe-file to C:\pebuilder3110a\Drivers\Net\T42 , you should have working network support on your boot CD. Use the automatic settings when BartPE stars up and you should be ok.
