flashing microphone icon

A friend of mine has a 15" Thinkpad Edge (sorry, I don't know much else about it... ). She has the vexing issue of a microphone icon popping up in the bottom middle of the screen all the time. Is there a solution for this? Thanks,

I don't often 'bump' things, but I'm going to for this. Is my friend's machine the only one with a flashing mic icon?! Still looking for a solution... or even someone else with the same problem.

try uninstalling the sound software/drivers and redownload it from lenovo's site. just a guess but it may work.

Paul - curious if you had any success. I don't have a flashing microphone icon on the lower center of the display, but rather a fixed shadow icon of a 'blob' that looks somewhat like a pineapple in the upper right hand corner. (Im am Post #160 on this Edge group). I poked around the Lenovo site to no avail -- so I was hoping someone in the TP Edge community might have some insight. Good luck with your microphone icon issue - hope it's solved.

Nope, no joy... I threw everything I could at it, but couldn't get it to go away. We finally gave up on it and she has put up with it since. Sorry I can't help...
