x220 keyboard issues
x220 keyboard issues
I just received my new X220, and I noticed that keyboard is not properly adjusted, left side of the keyboard is slightly swinging when I press keys on that part and makes louder and strange sound while right side is so quite and nice.
anybody had this problem on any thinkpads ? I am sending it for repair, wondering if I could fix it myself.
thanks.

Re: x220 keyboard issues
You can send it for repair, they might be able to fix it.
Whenever I have a problem with a Thinkpad keyboard not being completely flat and evenly supported, and I cannot see any immediate reason for it to be this way (all screws are tight, nothing stuck under they keyboard), I do this:

Re: x220 keyboard issues
From what I understand Lenovo will let you remove the keyboard/palmrest without voiding your warranty, so it might be worthwhile for you to try that and see if just replacing all the screws + resettling the keyboard fixes your issue.

Re: x220 keyboard issues
I received the laptop back from repair, unfortunately they did not fix it, the left side of the keyboard is still swinging, has hollowness and sounds noisy while right side is perfect.
I called the right guys to arrange the RETURN. Will send it tomorrow for a Refund.
Sorry Lenovo, but I paid for a high quality product.

Re: x220 keyboard issues
You could have fixed it yourself easily, and enjoy a high-quality machine, but oh well.

Re: x220 keyboard issues
Done,
fixed with a piece of carton and another small piece of double tape band did the job.
Keyborad sound and moves are normal now.
Thank you guys for all your suggestions and links.
...also ordered this
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-MV-3T4G4- ... roduct_top
to upgrade to 8GB, the one I have is "made in Philippines" and the one I ordered is "made in China",
hope they will work together
, all the other parameters are the same.
