To BIOS or not to BIOS, that is the question

#1 Post by RRHODY » Thu Sep 15, 2011 7:15 pm

I have a T61 type 7659 where the BIOS is shown as 1.26 (7LET56WW) 2007-10-18. There is a “newer” version listed in download & drivers on Lenovo’s web site. Lenovo System Update does not list the BIOS as needing to be updated – should I anyway? [if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it???] I have the bootable CD with the newer version.

Since you opened this question up for a general response, i would say...don't do a BIOS update if you don't need it.
BIOS updates can sometimes do a lot of mischief. It would be different if Lenovo were advising you to update...if you really needed it to address an underlying problem.

My philosophy on BIOS and EC updates :) . Look through the change history of the newer revisions. If there's something there that describes a problem you are experiencing, then yes, update the system.
