Anyone tried this?

I have a Hitachi Retail 7K60, and was somewhat worried by the critial issue with the IBM 7K60 in T42s, so wanted to be sure my retail version was up to date

I have A68A. The IBM updater looks for specific values ie A69A.

I did look at fw.pro but was still unable to update the detail drive.

Anyone have success?

The update can only be applied to drives supplied by IBM.....there's a signature in the IBM levels of firmware that is checked before the update is allowed....

Has anyone bypassed this (successfully). I certainly don't intend being the first!

I purchased a second 7k60 hard drive from Bill (non IBM) I updated the firmware of my original 7k60 (T41P) and my second drive purchased from Bill with no problem. I checked it again to see if the firmware has been applied and it was.

I tried to apply new firmware for my Hitachi HTS726060M9AT00, but it didnt for me. Everything was OK, the process of update was fine, but after it I checked again the version of firmware and it is always the old one :(

Is there any way how to update it? Thank you :)

Which updater did you use? To which firmware level? What was the original level?

I think they were both version 1.22 after the upgrade they went to version 1.23

Once I booted my computer, window indicated that it has found a new hardware and proceeded by updating its drivers.

Hi All,

I have a Fujitsu MHT2040AH HD in my T42. I also have an external IBM USB floppy disk drive (FRU P/N: 06P5223).

After creating the 3-1/2" diskette and while going through the motions, the system displayed a message saying: floppy drive inaccessible with three options -- abort, retry and ignore. As I did not wish to screw up my HD, I aborted. What could be the problem? Please advice.

Cheers and best regards,
Ranjit
